I bought two Figure 8 Puffers from a repoutable local store last night, and got an unpleasant surprise on getting home. One of the two has what looks like an under skin parasite that i've never seen before.
Unfortunately, my hospital tank is not bracksih and the store was closed, so I couldn't instantly return them or keep them quarantined. My brackish tank is fairly new and lightly populated, so rather than sentence them to death in front of my children, I dropped them in tank when I couldn't figure out what was wrong with him.
The questions:
What's wrong with this guy?
Is it dangerous to the other fish/plants/water supply?
How can it be treated? Ideally without meds.... as I'm planted, and prefer to avoid meds and chemicals whenever possible.
I'm waiting for the store to open, to see if they'll take them back, but either way the damage may already be done.
Any help and advice would be throughly appreciated.
