ok, first i just want to say this has been one of the worst times of my fish keeping career - today i woke early to do water changes - my 20 g q tank which is battling ick and mouth fungus was 1st - i have been treating for ick for about a week with the crystals falling off the fish fully yesterday i'd say - so i've been changing water , i want to continue medicating for the next 48 hrs or so to kill any possible free swimming tomites looking for hosts - however after finishing the change i was in a jiffy to get to work - i have been using kordon rid ick plus - believe it's one teaspoon full per 10 g's - i estimated though because there wasn't much left in the bottle and gave a couple of good squirts - it looked to me at the time a little much but i figured no biggie -
tonight i came home knowing i would be almost done with ick treatments n i was happy until i looked in my tank and saw all my fish at the top gasping for air! - immediatly i was horrified knew something was wrong - then i noticed the air stone had come undone somehow - no oxygen , but i thought hey those aren't even necessary what's going on - then i saw a dead hatchet fish, then a silver dollar, then a rainbow fish, the another hatchet -ahhh!!! i turned the air back on and ran for my siphon hose i did about a 90% water change figuring by now it was poisoning - the water i was taking out of the tank was very mediated in color - so i feel terrible and irresponsible buit i never thought this woul happen - anyhow the fish have very fresh water now - but i'm scared to finish off my med cycle
so the question is can i ? will they be killed by adding any more meds? i just want to make sure i get the tomites - however i suppose considering i've done 3 good size water changes in 3 days i coulve suck out most tomites -
shoul i just medicate with a much lesser dose - or not medicate at all n hope the ick doesn't break out again ?
pls help out
thanks
LMB:(
ps allfish look better now - somewhat shocked but i fed them a little they all ate and are swimming normally again - air is running and i plan on doing another water change tomorrow -
but can i or shoul i medicate to finish up ick

How big a water change did you do? I'm guessing it was probably in the 50% area, so what I would do, I would not medicate today. Tomorrrow, I would medicate as normal. This should give the fish the respite they need, and not allow the tomites to reinfect. You will want to monitor closely though--ich is persistant, and treatment of less than 3-4 weeks are suspect IMO.

holy god and your a novice-expert in fish handling...but accidents do happen so what can you do;). just sit down, turn on The Who, play My Genertaion, and sit back and relax.

guys for taking the time to read my post - i know it was long - well i only did maybe 1/10 th medication today - tomorrow i will carefully continue normal meds - everything looks well now though - the reason i'm anxious to destroy the ick is so i can kill the mouth fungus on one of my rainbow fish - somehow he survived the tobacle yesterday and one of the healthy ones died
:( - oh well - since no other fish are showing mouth fungus shoul i just remove him from the q tank to a smaller hospital tank ? or shoul i treat all of them? he's had this little nub of fungus for like a month and a half - it hasn't progressed but it hasnt gone a way either mainkly because everytime i medicate for it i'm interupted by ick outbreaks ughhhh
thanks all

oh yeah one more question - all these fish in my q tank are eventually going to my show tank - but how long after i clear all this stuff up will i then have tp q them to make sure all is well - is it even a good idea to ever nmove them to my other tank???
