i made an order online today and i think that on the new site it is much more difficult to find stuff compared to the old site.

I wonder...
Is a 12 day wait on orders efficient? :shake:

It usually takes 1.5-2 weeks to actually get the shipment from the time I order it. Of course I live in the los angeles area and they ship from NY using the dreaded UPS ground.. Its where you live that matters the time.

I started ordering from drsfostersmith.com. Don't like the new Big Als and I'm already pissed at them. Ordered a Quiet one 6000 for my pond. The dumb asses sent me a quiet one but for European voltage. Try to plug that into a domestic recept. This is before christmas and I'm still waiting for them to send me the right one in exchange. Besides drsfostersmith ships quicker, less time waiting and the prices are about the same.

How long does it take for you to receive what you order from Big Als. Case in point, Ordered supplies from drsfostersmith on 12/31/03 and received on 1/7/04. Big Als does not even come close. Granted some things are cheaper, but I like the faster deleivery and this is regular shipping. When Big Als says 7-10 business days you bank on 10 business days. Besides I'm ordering in USA, da Ilight should go on and say don't ship a product for European voltage. And still waiting for them to change it out after only three weeks? Not good service as far as I'm concearned.

Never had a problem in the past other thenshipping taking a little longer then some places. But this last instant has me real pissed. I call them up when I received it and they told me they would ship another along with a prepaid shipping slipped so I could return the other. I was glad to here this. But then two weeks go by and I called them back. What got me pissed was when they told me that the hold up was they were waiting for the shipping department to put the return slip in the box before it could be shipped. Daaaaa, how long does that take? It must be a really complicated task. So here I sit, still waiting.

I hope they get more pictures of the products. Just makes me feel more confident in what I am really buying.
it usually takes me 4-5 buisness days to get stiff if i order by phone and much longer if online. they have messed up enough with my orders but usually come through in the end.

Will have to try by phone if I use them again. Didn't know it made a difference. Thanks for that info.

i've always got stuff from big al's within 4-5 weekdays, both here in FL and when i lived in NJ. even if that weren't the case, my opinion is that if i'm ordering online and i have to wait a bit, it's not much of a difference to wait a couple extra days. if i wanted to pay more, i'd go to petsmart.

The problem I have with Big Al's is they gouge the heck out of their canadian customers... since they have real stores throughout Canada, they price protect their franchises... so the Canada side of their webpage has prices that are on average 30-40% above the US side...and that's after taking the currency exchange rate!!
For example, take the Eheim 2213 kit... $64.99US on the US side... and $159.99CAD on the Canada side... right now the currency exchange is around 1.30 or so... which would put the US price at around $85CAD... so that's very close to DOUBLE the price.
If you're in Canada and are looking for a good online store to buy from, try www.petsolutions.com They pricematch and have reasonable shipping rates to Canada. And they ship the day after payment!

I agree with Darth.
I've ordered from BA and had things shipped to the US and had someone bring them back to Canada when they had returned from their trip. Sooo much cheaper than their Canadian site. It's actually quite painful. If only I lived near the border - sigh!

I dont get it. I've ordered tons of stuff from Big Al's and never had to wait more than three days. I usually order stuff on the weekend and they send me an email on monday saying they shipped it, and I get it on Wednesday.

I wish they would just lower there store prices then. The duty Big al pays to get those items to Canadians stores can't be that much.
I've ordered a few times from the Canadian site but I think it's time to look at other options. The first three orders I placed online were at my small town Alberta door in 4 days. Pretty fast indeed. The last order was placed on the 18th of last month. After a few phone calls and excuses of computer problems I finally got it yesterday, one item short. That’s 3 weeks and unacceptable.
This is maybe a little off topic but does anyone use Big Al brand food? It seems to be reasonably priced but I'm unsure of its quality.
