Is Glancing always a sign of parasites? Can the odd occurrence be considered normal?

A very basic newbie question. :o

I just wanted to know if the a once-in-a-while occurrence of glancing can be considered normal. Or does it always indicate some problem?

Also is glancing always a sign of parasites like ich, or can it indicate some other kind of illness?

Thanks.

When I first got my cherry barbs there was one of them that would do it from time to time... I looked very carefully for signs of parasites but didn't see any.

He did it for the first few weeks I had him then he never did it again. A few weeks ago one of my danios had me worried same reason... but she only did it for a morning and I've never seen her do it since.

I'm always paranoid when I see a fish acting odd (well besides the Corydoras- they always act odd- don't know how many times I've had to gently touch a cory with my hand to make sure he was just resting... they occassionally stop the rampant activity and just lay still on the ground for long periods just to freak me out)

It's the fish equivalent of a cough.

Sometimes you cough because you're sick.

Sometimes you cough because there is something in what you're breathing that irritates you.

Sometimes you just cough for no apparent reason.

But if you are coughing a lot, something is wrong and you should look into it. Same with your fish.

:iagree:I wouldnt worry unless it starts to happen more often. I see most of my fish "flash" every now and then.

I think that says it all :)

Five lines that say it all. And puts the mind at rest. :)

Thank you very much, everyone.
