Could you please tell me if this is fin rot. The discus fins have been like this for a while and it's getting worse. I need to know if this is fin rot because fin rot is categorized by ragged fins.im pretty sure its not being attacked because he is the dominant discus

I am not a discus expert but it looks like the fin might have just gotten a little rip in it.

It doesn't look like fin rot to me. Maybe more of an injury. Either way, extra water changes should have it healing itself in no time. Are there any other symptoms? Are they eating and behaving the way they normally do? Color the same? What are your parameters?

well, they have been eating normally and behaving normally. nitrite and ammonia 0, ph 7 temp 84 and nitrate 40. Regarding water changes, I did lots of water changes 2-3 per week for a few months but it still didnt get much better.

It may be a permanently damaged spot on the fin. Sometimes injuries are such that the tissue heals but new does not grow back. Your nitrates are concerning. I try to keep mine below 10 for my discus as I have read that they are very sensitive to them. When a fish is injured daily water changes may be necessary for the injury to heal completely.
