lights broke what to do

so about a week ago my T-5 balisc went out and my tangs have been in the dark for about 4 day, i am geting a new light today, is that long period of no light bad for the fish, i have noticed that the face and body of my leilupi is black now and he is no longer yellow, will this go away, should i be worryed
 
Blackouts on tanks, using layers of trashbags with no light, no feeding and no peeking is a pretty common way of getting rid of bad algea blooms. Those last about 4 days, and aside from being a bit hungry, theres generally no ill effects to the fish, at least not that I've ever heard of.
 
The fish don't need the light. Since I don't have any plants I only turn on the light to my mbuna tank when i want to view them, otherwise they just get the light from the room. They'll be fine. My fish tend to change color a bit when the lights are off but change back once they are on.
 
itll be fine. weve gone on vacation where the lights stay off for like a week+, the color is just cuz there is no expose to light, like if you leave a goldfish in the dark after awhile itll turn white. but pigment comes back after you turn the lights on for like an hour. your not hurting the fish any. no need to worry.

that you very much, i am still made a corallife for messing up the lights so im getting a new one because the lfs said the lights are having problems, but my thing is when the light goes out it kill the bulbs... so i want to new bulbs, it seem logical seeing how if there light breaks then they should also replace the bulbs that break too, and im not leaveing the store till i get new bulbs lol
 
got the new lights today, and the new bulbs that i got for free. just wondering is having your lights on a timmer and haveing the button on can that kill the balis like what happened to me, or is it better to maualy turn on and off
 
I have used timer for many years without any problems so far.
 
what about the coral life duel linear strip light lol
 
Coralife are great light systems, IMO.
