So as some of you know, I built a canister filter a while ago for my 55 gallon goldie tank. I'm considering rebuilding the intake to make it easier to prime. Below is a crummy representation of my plans. The idea is to use the ball valve to pour water into the filter after cleaning it. My chief concern is how airtight the ball valve is going to be. Thoughts, suggestions, criticisms?

Find your self a cheap little power head. attach a hose to the output side and when you need to prime your canister just slip it in the tank and put the other end of the hose onto the intake tube of your filter after you remove the strainer. Other wise, what you show would work if you used something like rubber stopper on the end of the ball valve.
