To me, she looks like a wild type Betta splendens. She's beautiful. :)

Thank you! Rescued her from petsmart. She was only $2.24. When I saw her I was excited because I've never seen wilds at petsmart before. Good deal eh?

I'm glad you were able to rescue her at such a stellar price. ;) Petsmart gets some really neat stuff once in awhile. Great find and good luck. :)
And this is the picture I used as a reference to compare to your female:

She looks like a wild, and hopefully she isn't just highly stressed out.

she certainly is a beauty... looks wild but who can be sure.... you definitely did get your moneys worth though!
Thanks everyone! No I won't be breeding her
ATM but I may in the next 6 months or so tho.
Hopefully she isn't that old yet.
More pics of Alice.

Odd caudal fin shape for a Betta splendens.
Could we get some pictures of her pelvic fins extended? She might be a different species, or a croaking gourami.

i noticed that too
it might be because of the fact that shes wild
e.g. when u breed a plakat x. halfmoon
you run the risk of getting caudals shaped like hers due to plakat genetics
OR
she could be a spadetail!
a lovely spadetail

No way it is wild if it came from petsmart. Bettas are farmed. Nice betta though.

Thanks. I didn't mean litterally straight from the
wild just the type.
Here's more pics as promised hope they
are good enough.

I've also had good luck at petsmart for my betta girl. (Photo at left) I think they stopped selling bettas however...maybe people protested about the small cups? I think I may have even seen wild types at the walmart around here! haha

All the Petsmarts around here still sell
them. Weird that walmart of all places
would sell them. That's crazy. Nice girl
btw.

Nope. Like how I thought I had at least two female Dario dario. Well, one of the females is actually a very angry male who's showing some great colors!
