I have a large happy betta in a 3 gallon tank that came with a filter that you attach to a air line and it filtes the water that way (supose to bbe quieter or somethin) any way my betta hates having it on all the time as it moves the water like a pro so I only turn in on 2 to 3 times a week. Well to day was filter day and he just tryed to swim up the pipe thats half his size! should I be worried?:1zhelp:

Well, I guess you should find a way to avoid that.

You could cover your filter pipe with a plastic plant, or kind of it.

This is my first post

Awsome thanks for your help and welcome to Aquaria Central by the way. Oh and I have had this filter in there before and he has never done this.

Bettas are curious fish and will investigate anything they find interesting. I'm sure your fish hasn't lost his mind.

I have this thing in my tank that looks like roots and there's a hole in the top. One day I looked in my tank and could not find him at all I freaked out and thought I killed him or he jumped ship. Then I saw him swim out of the hole. I was afraid he would get stuck eventually so I covered it with some netting. I have heard alot of people using pots in their betta tanks and having their betta actually get stuck in the little hole in the bottom. If it's got a hole in it chances are they will try and fit threw it in my experiences. I'd try and cover the top of the tube with something.

Thanks for the welcome.

I have been a bettas lover since my earlies 15. I got some experience in breeding bettas and cichlids. As AngeTheDude (http://www.aquariacentral.com/forums/member.php?u=97670) said, they are curious. If they get excited they can even jump out of the tank.

I'll stick around.

once i had a betta that got stuck in my filter for a week. He came out even fatter then when he went in, maybe a little paler from lack of space or light, but happy and healthy. Unless you find yours on the ground or actually stuck i'd just let him be. They are moderately intelligent, right? :hitting:

Thanks for all the help! I think everyone's right about him being curious. He doesnt have much in his tank to investigate as Im alwasy fearful he'll hurt himself again. He once ripped half of his fins off while atacking a figurine in the tank. It took 3 weeks for it to grow back. Oh and las saturday I got him a mystery snail buddy and Vincent loves pestering it. (I wish I knew what its gender was.....) Thankfully he hasnt hurt himself on the filter and seems to have figured out he is way to big to fit in it. This picture was taken a month or so ago and hes a darker blue now.

My condolences... it's tough losing a betta early in their lives... I only had my Valentine for 4 months before he passed. At least you gave Vincent a great life for the time he was with you.
