I want to start a 55 gal planted tank. I love the natural look. for the natural look I figured my best options for substrate were either riverstone or sand. I was gonna go with the sand but I was just searching images for mosses and noticed that more than a few tanks looked like they had soil on the bottom and it looked great. I know soil is to light for a tank and would be very problematic for filtration (probably a problem with bacteria as well). can anyone tell me what this soil looking substrate is?
