A big make over for the 55gal A. Cichlid tank :)

Hey Guys!

So I was sick of looking at the not so cool set up I had going for my A. Cichlids, so I went out to do a little scavenger for some sweet rocks and some inspiration

Here is the product so far, still need to go out and get some black background

Before and after pictures (pictures are a little weak, need a new cam :headshake2:)

This is what I would do. Go to Home Depot or your local hardware store and look at the rock/slate area. In that area find slate. Buy slate that isn't to thick and isn't to skinny. Once you are back home take a hammer and hit the center of the slate. After breaking the slate stack in your tank. You didn't say what type of cichlids but if you have small-medium African cichlids this is their favorite. Watch this vid I will attach to see what it will look like at the end!

odinthejd, I had slate rock in before, but I came to liking this better. The hardware places around here do not have much slate, but I do appreciate the ideas =)
 
Looks great!! I also upgraded my 55 african cichlid tank with rock from a local creek about a month ago. The round river rock looks the best and my cichlids love the caves
