Ok I have had this betta for months and have grown very fond of him. When I first got him he was actually white and black and then before my eyes his colors changed to blue, black, and red. He is such a sweet little fish always swam up to the glass to greet me when I went by his tank. He lives in a 3g eclipse with biowheel.
I do wc's every week and he gets fed bettamin flakes once a day and on Saturdays freezed dried bloodworms then a once a week fast on Sundays. This weekend his behavior was odd he wasn't swimming as much and was hiding in his cave. I tested for ammonia with liquid drops none was detected in the water.
Yesterday I did his water change didn't have time over the weekend again in his cave very listless. He would try to swim and then float down. I see nothing on this fish no pineconing, spots or swelling on his body. I am thinking swimbladder problem but am not sure. This a.m. he is lying on his side breathing very slowly. I have a feeling he is dieing and am not sure what else to do. I have taken such good care of this little guy. I have two other bettas that are thriving one that I have had since 2007 believe it or not. Need help as am not sure what to do. The tank has been cycled for a while. ph 7.0 ammonia 0 nitrite 0 nitrate 5.
