Hi guys and gals, have an issue need a hand.
I have a pro 2 canister 2229 version, and on the intake side where the clear tube in the aquarium hooks to the elbow I am getting an air leak around the o-ring. Ive tried 3 different o-rings and I just cant make a good seal for some reason. I can hear it sucking in air and my filter is constantly forming bubbles by the impeller.
Anyone else have this, suggestions?

Is it a new one? The 2229 doesn't use an elbow. You connect the green intake hose to the integrated double tab connector. Also, Eheim doesn't use clear tubing. Did you use the right Eheim o-ring?
Anyway, you should apply a silicone lubricant to any o-rings.

The green rubber hoses attach to the elbow and then the other end of the elbow connects to the gray translucent piece that goes into the water.
Im calling it the elbow but its the plastic piece that sits on the tank that both sides connect to. I will give that a shot with the goo.

You must have the optional installation set. There is a possibility that one of the tube sections may have a crack in the plastic. Or maybe the cap to prime the intake assembly isn't tight. Also check that the hose connector nut is secured to the hose.

You simply attach a green hose to the intake bar. Perhaps, you have an Eheim installation kit or a different intake unit.

Ah, it looks like I do have an installation kit. Didn't know that. Its been running for 6 months and I just took it apart to clean it today. Its air getting past one of the o-rings where the parts come together, when i unscrew the cap and pour water down it, i saw it bubble up a little. i swapped little sections and now the one that leaked is underwater, so for now its ok.

Glad you found the problem. I have heard that usually fixes it.

Or, you could apply a clear silicone sealant to the crack. If you decide to disassemble the kit, you can easily peel off the sealant. I ordered two Eheim installation kits because the stock Eheim green pipes are not aethetically pleasing to me :-)
