hey guys the other day i bought 3 green cory cats and 2 gold zebras - they are currently in a small q tank (not my 20g mess q tank) anyhow went back to the store i got them at today - (they came from the same tank) and was looking at their old tank - it looked good overall except this one zebra who was sort of messed up looking not curved or anything just looked a little xtra long and looked like he had dropsy raised scales slouching sitting in one place etc - my fish are in q but shoul i be worried everything else in the tank looked great - i did notice this fish when i bought my guys but he sort of looked like a deformity and i didnt pay much mind - anyhow i've been reading too much i think - i'm like scared to buy new fish now - i was reading something on fishy tb n i'm horrified of getting that crap into my tank - ugggghhh anyone else share this new fish purchase phobia? lol
anyhow think that messed up fish has tb? or is tb more serious looking - i guess i'll keep everyone in q for a month if they look good then is it ok to move them? everything i bought looks awesome eating swimming breathing fine!

The move to your nice, clean, tranquil tank will probably save these fish from whatever the other fish had.

Maybe not, but they have a much better shot at a good life in your tank than at the store. That fish in the tank may or may not have been in the same shipment as your fish. They may have not cought whatever it is, or they may be able to fight it off with better conditions.

Don't stress (you'll make yourself sick!), just monitor carefully.

dropsy is bacterial usually.

there's always a slight risk involved with buying new fish. if you use proper quarantining practices that risk should be extremely minimal.
