Hi Friends,

Hope all is well and great !

Friends, here in India Plecos ( except the common plec ) are really-really rare as the import is not allowed and only a very-very few, very rarely hit the market. After trying hard for such a long time, I have finally managed to get a few Albino Bristle Nose plecos and now I want to to give them the best life that they can get and eventually breed them.

I also have plans to distribute the babies ( If I can breed them someday ) for free among hobbyists here - just to make these wonderful fish more common and available here... I have similar plans for other rare fish that I keep - Frontosas, Leleupis and Julidochromis etc

This is my 212 Gallon Frontosa tank - request you to kindly have a look - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2faYW0IjSiY

Anyways, friends I want to feed my plecos a lot of different veggies, fruits and dry foods so that they can get the best and most complete nutrition, so that they can develop well and finally breed for me.

I've been trying a lot of things to weigh down these foods but somtimes I get irritated / frustrated and lazy... I just came across this Screwcumber - http://www.screwcumber.com/index.php and I think its a wonderful thing.

I badly / desperately want to get one of these for my plecos but sadly they dont seem to sell / ship to India. Just wanted to request you friends, if somebody can kindly buy one for me and ship it to me. Will be a great-great help to me, my plecos and my ambition of breeding them - I promise
I'll forever remain grateful to you and will try my best to give these beauties the greatest life that is in my power... I will pay for the screwcumbers and for the shipping - its just that I'mnot able to order it online as I dont have a creditcard and also because they dont ship to India.

Even if somebody who has few, can kindly give me just one of these, I'll be truly grateful...

Please let me know and if possible kindly help me friends...
Thanks a lot !
Regards
Kush

Hi Kush,

I also picked up a BN pleco and then got a food clip for veggies, but it looked terrible. So instead of that, I now rubber band the veggies to a small rock and drop it in -- seems to work fine. I know other people who just stick the veggie on a fork and drop that in. So I don't think you *need* this product -- just experiment with whatever you have available.

Good luck! (BTW, your frontosa tank is amazing!)

I would suggest a butter knife, or the handle of a spoon though. Forks come to tiny points you wouldn't want to hurt them. Also make sure the silverware you are using is stainless steel. You don't want to pollute the water with something that will give off copper, or rust or anything.

why not just buy a wine opener with the corkscrew attachment and bust off the corkscrew easy fix

Kush, nice tank. I've been using a fork for over 2 years for all of my plecos and never had a problem. Well, 1 time I put in a piece of fresh zucchini that was too big, so I had to use 2 forks ! So I say give the fork a try. And good luck with your breeding project !

Hi Kush. Congratulations on acquiring the plecos! I too use forks, I use either the small seafood forks or salad forks. Then push the fork handle into the gravel, and it stays upright like a popsicle. With the bigger plecos, this gives more of the plecos access to the zucchini both on top, sides and bottom. I've never had an issue with the fork prongs with any of the fish in the tanks. But I have poked myself! LOL! Give it a try if you can. Good luck to you with raising and breeding them!!!!

I heard about this invention...I wondered if it would help people give their plecos vegetables who couldn't figure out how to deliver it to them previously.

I just use big magnetic clips, or plastic clamps. They look like this:

I definitely wouldn't recommend this method for a saltwater tank since there is metal in both these things, and it does rust and eventually break. But it works fine for a long while - especially the plastic clamps which are the most durable. Sometimes I clip directly to the vegetable, but more often I impale the veg with a bamboo skewer and then clip onto that.

My BN pleco and catfish love nori (roasted seaweed used for making sushi) - I bet your frontosas might like it too. I weigh these strips down with plastic clothespins.

BTW your tank is amazing :)
