Hey, so I came home tonight and my fully grown yellow Lab, had wadged himself between some rocks and has badly injured himself..
Many redish marking all over his body, missing scales, my main concern is that he is upside down and cannot right himself, he is breathing very slowly, I have isolated him in a breeding trap so no one can pick on him, but is he too far gone?
Is there anything I can do to help him?

Can we see pics. If they scratches aren't to bad like inside him he will be fine. Put in some Melafix in the tank and hope for the best!

Don't bother him, turn the lights off, dose with Melafix and Pimafix, or other alternative. He could have ruptured his swim bladder because you said he can't right himself. Just make sure to keep him comfortable and make sure he can't jump out of the breeder trap. Good luck!
Maybe some pictures would help us determine what exactly he did to himself?

If you don't have a separate hospital/QT tank, I highly encourage you to get one. Even just a 10 gallon will usually work. Ideally, he should be in his own tank to recover. If it were mine, I'd add some Melafix and monitor. If he's too far gone or seems in distress, I will euthanize (using clove oil), but I try to see if they can recover first . . . Sorry and good luck.

I do have a hospital tank always running...
Still not all too sure how he managed to wedge himself upside down between the glass and the rocks...it was clear he was sturggling to get free from the missing scales and red markings...I really didn't have much hope for him, but I thought I would ask...so thank you very much for the replies, I know for next time, and I am pretty sure the rocks didn't move, I take alot of time to ensure they are sturdy, maybe he was just trying to impress some of the females in the tank doing some crazy stunts and got a little carried away,
I just hope my smaller male now steps up to the plate and can mate with the females as he hasn't in the past...
Thanks again Everyone
