I had a group of 7 cories originally- 4 aeneus, 3 peppered. I lost all 3 peppered ones in a 2-day span- I wasn't sure why, but I had some ich show up a few days later, so that's my suspicion. I lost 1 of the aeneus to ich. Luckily, everyone else was ok.

So- now I only have the 3 aeneus. They're full grown- nice, big, 3 inches or so, got them all from Redkahuna some months ago.

Should I get some more? It seems like most stores around here sell only juvies, and I wasn't sure if I should add them in with the adults. they seem perfectly content at the moment, so maybe I should just leave them alone? I would get some more from Redkahuna if I could, but he seems to be MIA. I would love to get some long-finned aeneus, but can't seem to find them, and when I do see them, again, they're usually juvies.

If you do not know what killed your pepered cories I would wait at least a month before adding anything else to the tank. When you do get more cories make sure you are getting the same species as the ones you already have otherwise you will have to make two different schools. Juvies can be put with adults. Cories aren't very aggressive so they should be fine. Also make sure you QT your new ones.

As above, wait a while to be sure things are OK, and then get some new ones. I had 8 peppered cories, fully grown, lost 6 of them when I moved house. I eventually added 11 juvenile peppered cories, they all get on fine. The smaller ones like to follow the big ones around, but are also more likely to be the ones swimming mid water.

Oh yeah, I'll definitely wait! Tank has been ich free for a while, but I still have the temp up just in case. It would be a few weeks anyway, since I'll be gone fo a while after Christmas.

RazzleFish- I did have 2 different species before, and there didn't seem to be a problem. They "schooled" (not that they schooled all that much) with their own kind for the most part. And bred, too! But I would like to stick to one species now that I have the option to.

What I *really* want is some black aeneus! But they seem to be very hard to find. :(

abcdefghi- it's interesting, the aeneus always did a lot more water-column swimming than the peppered ones, anyway. They're all over the place, always out in the open. My cat is obsessed with them, lol. They're the biggest fish in the tank, so the ones that are the easiest for him to see. He goes crazy when they do their surface runs and dives.
