during my upgrade I had fish and shrimp in my 10gal qt with HOB AC filter on it. I put the 20 gal out on the curb and a friend of mine picked it up so I went to get her one of my filters that had been on the 10 qt and she saw a shrimp swimming around in the bottom of the media bin. lol I took the media out and poured it in the new 36. glad he survived, I was just gonna let it dry up on it's own.
