should i keep a newly bought corals in darkness

i bought a zoanthid and when i brought it home after acclimating it for 30 mins, my coral started expanding when i on the light.should i keep it on or should i off it

your way of putting that was a little odd but keep the zoas in the tank with the light on, theyll get acclimated to it eventually, zoas are wierd like that

There's little reason to intentionally keep any new coral additions in the dark. Depending on the lighting over the tank they came from and how it differs from your own lighting, there can certainly be benefits to starting new coral additions out at / near the bottom of your tank, then progressively moving them higher up to where you'd like them to be.
