Ladies and Gentlemen, im face with a serious problem and its to do with another project that requires my full attention. A short while ago a few day before X-mas, my heating unit had to be shut down, or I might not ever get to enjoy my to be 240 gal SPS reef tank. I have no heat now at my house for the unit it has is older then I, well not really but it is 20+ years old and I have been having heating problems for the past three years were I have a man come over to fix once or twice a year costing then just under $200 each time.

Now being im with only my disability funds, I thought of only one way to manage both of these problems, it will mean I have to have control in myself in what I spend money on and not have as many meals out. The unit now in I cut off because of the fumes and possible poisoning and I figured that sense I hail from the North, I can manage to deal with 50 degrees for a few months or lower. As it was, i always had my heat set at 63 degrees and 65 as the highest I would go. I can not take breathing in heat, it causes me a little ill feeling. At my Son-in-laws house, they have the temp set at 69 and it bothers me a little.

Now the main reason for this posting, its to do with the money that is needed for the heating unit and duct work. The complete cost for it will be $6,540.00 exactly. Now I giving this much thought and being that i was going to continue before this with only managing to get together anywhere from $4,000 to $4,500 for the tank rebuilding, I was figuring on placing my $250 a week checks in my saving account for both projects. It would mean that for the year i would put together for these two reasons the sum of $13,000, but only $11,000 of it would go to the tank and new heating unit for not forget, im the property tax as well before the end of the year.
So with saying that, I would still be short for completion of the reef tank and 40 gal breeder QT. By the end of Jan I will pay for the tanks I will have for my sumps, James will not only put in a 125, but a 130 as well as his original idea for two sumps. and I think James told my that the 125 is $350, so whatever the cost is for the second tank sump and work that he would need to do on both, they will both be paid for at the end of next month.

MY idea is this, being that I need to get $6,000 together for the new heating unit, work on the reef tank will make slow progress. And once the new stand is in with the tank sumps, i will get someone for the closed loop that im most desired to have. I will be looking for this to be done sometime in June, and after that i will look for the filtration system to be done in Sept.. Leaving the lights and water current pumps, in which the lights would be done first, then the pumps and controllers.

Now I said to some that im a new figure in the cost for this tank, im looking at $11,000+ now. Still i refuse to cut corners on this system, I will not go with cheap equipment. And not forget that James agreed now with the suggestion of the MH reflectors that was strongly suggested., I provided him with both a link article of the reflectors and link to buy them for he figured they would run $250 each, in the link their selling for less then $120 each.

So my plans changes none in the time frame of completing the tanks, that im only force to make this decision so that I will have the new heating unit in before or by the colder weather arrives again.

Understand this so you can have a better understanding to this plan. I get three type of checks a month, the $250 a week that I mentioned is from workers compensation and I get this check for my life time. The other checks, one is from the Social Security with the amount of more then $1,300 a month, and the other is from my Union retired benefits in which I told them to keep under $500 a month so that I not need to file for taxes.
So I figure to try and survive on the $1.800 a month to pay my bills and food. It is the only way i can see this working for the second choice project plan would be is too place the tank rebuilding plans on hold for seven months. I thought of taking a loan out, but being a person of little means I would require my family to help sign for me to back me up and I know they would then end up paying for the most of this, and its not my way.

Its now the day after X-Mas and the kids are short of settled down playing with their new games and such. Anyway, now my plan as mention above, I will be looking to save for doing both problems, one being more of a problem then it is a project. In any case I will save the $1,000 a month for doing both, the tank rebuilding and new heating unit.

So the first step is that the new stand and canopy with its tank sumps would need to be in place, photos will be taking as this moves a long step by step, and I might even have the lighting done before the end of 2010, I just can not promise that at this time knowing I need the new heating unit in by or before the real cold weather returns next winter.
