Ok i have had a really good hard think about my recent death of fish. I have lost 2 bala sharks and 1 angel in the space of 24hrs. I thought about it. My clowns loaches and red tail black shark and tetras are all doing fine. But the balas and angels have all been bought from the same LFS but the clown loaches and red tail black shark and tetras are from another LFS. The only reason the balas and that were bought at this LFS is because it is closer to home and mum doesn't like the longer trip. If she would take me to the other i would definetly go there. Could the LFS have given my fish parasites that they brought home with them?? Also my convict fry is on its side in a q tank gasping it seems for air, what does this mean??

Yes, it is possible for fish from one store to get sick and not others, as I have had this happen myself. I had a tank that was cycled and had some tetras, a few cories, and a red tailed shark in it. All of the tetras were from one locally owned pet store (where I try to do all of my shopping now) and the cories and red tailed shark were from Wal Mart. Then, I added 5 green barred danios from a different local pet store, and one of them died the first night. The others were doing fine, and about a week later I added a pictus cat. Well, about two days after I bought the pictus, I noticed that it had developed ick, so I went and bought some of the ick medicine, and added it (it said only half for tanks with tetras) and waited. Well, the pictus ended up dying, and all four remaining dainos got it pretty bad as well, with three of them also dying. The fourth wasn't in great shape after the ordeal, but a few weeks later he was back to full strength. The thing I never understood was that NONE of the fish from the other lfs or even Wal Mart had any sign of being ill at all. It might have just been luck that they didn't, but I don't buy fish from the lfs that the pictus and danios came from any more.
yes well from the lfs i have never trusted but mum insists on cos of her laziness...i have lost 1 angel, 2 balas, 2 big snails.
