This is my first tank. It actually belongs to my son, but I built it. Its a 20 gallon high with a crappy light over top that will be replaced in a week with cfl's and a real hood. The background is driftwood siliconed onto the glass and surrounded by expanding foam(cant remember the name) covered with more silicon. It has a variety of plants in it and Eco complete substrate. Right there are 5 mollies, an oto, 2 Briggs snails and a few ramshorns in it. The water isnt all the way to the top because my son want the Briggs to breed and wants a place for the to lay eggs and its easier to leave it than argue :) It used to be home to 3 red eye tree frogs, the second picture is what it looked like right after planting and before adding frogs. The tree frog tank was built with a false bottom and a pond in the middle, so the basic set up for turning into an aquarium was already there.

Tank looks great. The coco fiber isn't giving you any problems with the tank being full of water?

For the first few weeks there were tons of tannins in the water, it looked like coffee, but thats it. We let it sit for a few days before even turning the pump on, just to soak it and we did A LOT of water changes.

Nice tank

and I hate to tell u this.. but he is right about the briggs-- the water level needs to be low like that :-)
