Just wondering if there was any advantage to going in carefully with a pair of scissors, or just yanking out some of the older leaves. I've gotten into the habit of occasionally thinning out some amazon swords by just yanking out some of the more tired looking outer leaves to make way for new growth from the inside of the plant. I think it was an LFS guy a while back who told me to do it this way. What method are you using?

I pinch the leaves off, using scissors if there's any resistance so the plant won't be uprooted.

i do both, pinch or scissors. depends on if i have the scissors out already / i've trimmed my fingernails recently, lol.

Grab as close to the base and a quick tug .

I pinch by putting the plant against my index finger and "cutting" with my thumbnail.

My fish are too curious for me to attempt the use of scissors.
