Plecos single vs pairs

Do Common Plecos do better, worse or does it make no difference whether there is only one versus two (or more) in a tank?

Also, does the effect change depending on whether there are other bottom-oriented fish, like clown loaches or corys?

my impression is that they can be fairly territorial when they get larger, so you should generally keep them singly unless you have a pretty large tank. i have also been told that if raised together from a very young age they tend to be less territorial.

If the tank is big enough, they'll unlikely to bother one another.
