I got them about a year ago as babies about 1 inch long. There are three in a 29 gallon with 2 juvie BN plecos, now they are about 4" long.

The thing that freaks me out is they cower under their driftwood, and never come out of their respective hidey-holes. I have never seen a fish so shy. I just did a major trim on the plants and the fish are practically trying to bury themselves in the substrate to find cover. Are your kribs like this?

My kribs always stay covered except when I feed them they eat and then go right back to there hiding spots. The females seem to come out a little more often

I added a pair of angels to their tank and all of a sudden they're all bada$$ tough-guys out and about. They just needed some other decent sized fish to show them the way.

If the angles spook - forget it. They're back underground. I am shocked at how difference in their personalities are once they have someone to hide behind. They are like different fish. I hadn't seen them for MONTHS out and about- now they are out all the time, as long as the forerunners are not scared, the kribs feels 2,000x more comfortable. I thought I was doing them a service by giving them their own tank. I was wrong.

I have two rams in with my krib, he's out and about all the time, he loves darting between gaps in the leaves, rocks, and driftwood and he'll sit and guard a pile of frozen bloodworms if I drop it to the bottom. He'll stop and flare at a gourami every now and then too. I think having another cichlid in the tank helps.
