Hi, has anyone kept these fish? If so, did they eat any algae? I've read different sources that say they do and others say they don't.

If you're going for algae eaters, get some SAE's or otos.

sorry, never kept either of those, but i know my clown loaches don't

I have one now for about 3 weeks. Mine eats algae and will sometimes munch on a piece of zucchini. I've tried other vegetables like broccoli stems, carrots, and spinach, but it doesn't seem to go for them.

I have also read that it will accept various fish food, but mine ignored flakes, sinking tablets, and sinking algae wafers. The last was a bit of a surprise.

It hides among rocks especially during the day and is more active at night.

I quite enjoy it. I'm actually planning on getting a couple more.

Thank you for your replies. I was curious about them because the lfs I visited didn't have any plecos available and suggested these instead. I didn't buy any because I hadn't read up on those at the time. Anyway, in the end I didn't end up getting them. I went to another fish store and got some gold ancistrus. They are in quarantine now. Hopefully the next 6 weeks or so in quarantine will be disease free.
