algae bloom

well i have a major algae bloom going on and i have had a total black out for three days but it hasn't changed is there anything else that i can do to fix this problem thanks Greg

youre referring to green water, yes?

If so, its usually a sign of excess nutrients such as phosphates/nitrates. More frequent water changes with a good gravel vacuuming should help clear it up with time. The green water does suggest that the tank is perhaps getting fed too much or isn't cleaned enough, or that it is getting way too much light. Is it exposed to direct sunlight?

I suggest simply cutting back the amount that the lights are on, feeding a bit less, doing more water changes, and gravel vac-ing.
