Bet you all thought this thread had something to do with a cat getting killed in a marine tank didn't you? GOTTCHA!!!
No, no deaths here. I was just curious as to what kids of unique and interresting fish are being kept by people. I always like going into my LFS and seeing what new fish are there. If I could I'd have 1 of everything but that's not going to happen so I'm curious about what interests others ...
Currently I have 2 false percula clown, a yellow tang, a pearlscale butterfly, 2 scooter blennies and 2 black and white damsels ... not to mention numberous inverts. I'd love to one day get a dog face puffer and maybe some of the triggers out there but for now these guys are my babies. I am thinking of maybe adding a spiny box puffer to the group ... don't know ... any thoughts?

Well, I really love Lionfish due to their beauty, danger factor, and their ferocious appetites. Unfortunately, a Lionfish would make dinner out of most of your inhabitants.
I have always been the type of hobbyist who would rather have one or two BIG, AWESOME fish in a large tank, as opposed to several little fish. When I was into FW, I had just one BIG Oscar that would eat anything I threw into his tank. Maybe it's a macho guy thing, but carnivores have always been my favorite!
I hope to get a larger (55gal or bigger) SW tank in a week or two, so I can go get my Radiata Lion! (currently have a 10 gallon)

Lionfish are very beautiful animals to keep, and I've often wanted one. However, my hands are too frequently inside of my aquarium for maintenance to be comfortable in having one. I understand the sting from one can be a "real eye opener". (Said in such a way to provoke laughter)
Nothing wrong with having big carnivores. I keep morays! Absolutely love them. I will be shortly adding the gymnothorax mordax (California Moray) to my collection upon completion of a 200 gal. 3rd aquarium.
You'd probably get away with some larger trigger fish, puffer fish with the lions. I've often seen puffers command the utmost respect from fellow tank residents. And triggers, well, what more need be said by these "nippers"? :D

GQMedic, I would actually be worried about keeping trigger fish and puffers (or any other nippy fish for that matter) with a Lionfish simply because they have such long fins. I think if I had a Lionfish, it would more than likely be by itself just like my Oscar was. Of course, I would have some Hermits and Snails for clean-up duty, but the Lion would be king of my tank! (pardon the pun)
If anyone has lots of experience with Lionfish, please give me some suggestions about suitable tankmates in a 55gal tank. I already know that smaller fish and ANY shrimp would be toast. Would my Bicolor Angel be ok?

Loins can eat anything 1/2 thier size.

So basically your Bicolor would be in trouble, especially with a Radiata. Eels work fine, Med size Angels, Butterflies, Tangs, peaceful Triggs, etc but most won't work in a 55. I would just do a Lion/Eel tank in a 55. Hope this helps.
