So I just got a new 25 gallon tank and decided that I'm gonna try german blue rams again! Jeez? What's wrong with me!? ;)....... bad experiences in the past. So, what I'm wondering is how many pairs should I put in the tank? And does anyone think that I should try finding a wild caught pair. I've heard bad things about hormones being injected in the store bought ones imported from asia. Also what would be good tank companions. That would not get hold of their eggs if they bred. I'm kind of steering towards schooling bottom feeders of some kind. Preferably from the same region. All my options are a little overwhelming. All advice is welcome! :)

Well the first thing to remember with blue rams is good water quality! I have a couple in my 29 and do 3 gallon water changes every day, they've been thriving in this setup. The number of pairs is up to you, sorry i'm not sure on the wild caugh/store question. Blue Rams are very easy to find good tank companions for as they are good community fish, when you say region how specific do you mean?

By specific I meant as specific as possible. I'm going for the most natural set-up possible.

I would avoid bottom dwellers if you don't want them to go after the eggs. I think a school of a dozen or so cardinal or rummynose tetras would be good tankmates.

You might be able to get away with 2 pairs in that tank, but I'd probably just stick to 1

I also just decided to try rams again for the first time in 4 years or so. I just got a nice female and if she does well in my tank, I'll get her a mate
