I have 14 mabuna in my 60g but Im sure you can put a few more. My friend has 28 in his 60g and they seem to be doing well.

You could do close to 20 as long as you have good filtration and keep up with water changes. My final goal is to have 15 mbuna in my 55 gallon. I have more now but they are still young.

It all depends on the species you're interested in, your maintenance routine, and the footprint of the tank. Maintenance is key when trying to overstock for aggression.

I'd say 15-20 is a good number without knowing what kind of cichlids and what sort of maintenance you plan on performing.
