The only fish I have under the 4-5" mark. Don't mind the reflections.

Is that a 10 gallon tank with two angelfish in it?

Nice curviceps. Make sure to do lots of water changes and feed a nutritious food like NLS pellets - I lost my pair to HLLE before I knew better.

No, no... It's a 29g. My angels just aren't small. ;)

Thanks. This little guy made me start liking dwarf cichlids. I feed my own combo of pellets and flakes, but thanks for the tip. :)

Oh I see - they really did dwarf the tank :) Impressive fellas!

I kept them in a busy community tank with tetras and kribs where I don't think they got much to eat. I always wondered if maybe they had intestinal parasites because they got skinny and weak, didn't have much appetite. I could never catch them again in order to QT them :( I would have fed them some deworm flake if I could've caught them. Now Petsmart doesn't sell them any longer, so no chance I'm ever going to find them again in my little town!

Enjoy your fish. I always wondered why curviceps are so underappreciated - they have lots of advantages over blue rams.

Thank you very much. :)

Hmmm... This one was shy at first (I had him in my 36"x18"x16" 40g breeder with my severum and catfish), but still came out to eat. Once I moved my 11" Polypterus bichir lapradei to the same tank, I figured it wasn't worth the risk, so I made him a retreat in the 29g. The Angels weren't too fond of him at first (being a breeding pair), but after the first night in, they figured it wasn't really a threat, and left it alone. Right now he is out in the open swimming around looking for some food on the bottom without either of them even seeming to notice. :D

His rock will keep him safe regardless of how the angelfish feel about him anyway, though.

I honestly wasn't too sure what I got when I bought it. All I knew was, was I wanted a cichlid for my 55g, it wasn't an african, it had a cute little disposition, and it was labelled "curviceps cichlid"... So I got it. I am not a fan of random buys, and certainly don't condone it, but this one worked out well. :D
Awesome!

I saw some of these guys at the lfs but could never remember the name once I got home to look it up.
Thanks!
