i have some CRS, was thinking about what i remember about wet dry filters , seemed to me this would be good filter type to add to shrimp tank reaosns being it ups DO,and could possibly degas the ammonia?

figure you guys would be able to tell me what you all think about the idea?

cost is not the issue as wet dry is cheap with diy, my thinking is would need like 24oz pop bottle for the wetdry medium and another container to act as sump so we do not give the critters gas embolisms, then i could put a tiny bit of coral, and alil bigger portion of activated carbon in sump which will dump back into tank since this unit will be above water level so overflow box is not needed.

I doubt the crs would like coral. no opinion on the wetdry.

so your plan is to pump water up above your tank and let gravity do the return flow? should work ok but might be a bit unsightly having it above the tank instead of below it.

You idea works in principle, might take a bit of tinkering. Maybe use a round sealable container, like tupperware or something, instead of a pop bottle- nothing ever looks good in a pop bottle, even if it's brilliant, but a tupperware, and you can say it's a custom designed filter, haha.

I agree with what Trigger said.....You could also say it is a prototype for a new fish product that 1 on us on here sent you......

ascetics take back seat to good performing filter, plenty of ways to hide that stuff.
