Yesterday.

Going to pick about 300lbs of "live" rock from craigs list today. the plus is that is it free. The down side is that it has not been under lights for a few months. 4/5. i will cure it before it goes into my tank but my question is, will the rock have any benifical bacteria on it still? it has been in water had heated for the past few months but has had no lighting.

Heres what i picked up

After i filling up 7, 5 gal buckets, I wound up with a 32 gal trash can full of live rock.

Now today i had to make another trip to get the remaining rock, which i figured to be 1-2 buckets worth i wound up with this...

That is sooo cool. I wish you good luck and think that you should make you tank with a large sort of cave in the back then run a power head through it to create a behind the rock current. Then put one in the front on the opposite side and create a large circular current. You will probably have to put more then one of course, just me thinking in terms of 30 gal.

Honestly I love the tank just the way you have it now but I am more of a minimlaist. Adding 300lbs to what you alredy have is going to be tough to fit. Maybe your LFS will take some on credit and you can swap some out for some livestock later?

The rock looks good to me. I see a fair amount of coraline despite being out from under lights for a while. Nice score for sure. That's a lot of rock/money.
