As the title says I have noticed that my 2 new black neons are swimming on their side once and a while. Thinking it may be swim bladders disease, or something else, but wondering if I should place them in QT or just cut back on feeding. Any ideas?

Could it be due to sudden increase in room light and angle it hits the tank?

If they display such behavior very rarely and water in check, Just monitor.

If they are swimming tilted Ilossing balance or struggling to keep balance) all the time you may have an issue.

If they are eating well, Would just monitor rather than move to q/t.

Unnecessary handling/moving itself could render more stress on the fish.

I've noticed that when my tank light goes out and there is a room light farther away still on, some fish swim at angles so that the distant light is treated like it is straight above them. Not all of my fish do this - only two or three of my congo tetras, but it's still interesting.

I'm not sure if this is your situation, too. Best of luck!

Recently my black neons showed similar behaviour to what you are talking about. My fish contracted neon tetra disease from an infected angelfish and I lost my entire school in only a week.
