i was at a lfs i took a good ride to get to because heard they got cool fish - well they had one in particular i was stoked about - yup- the archer fish for 17 bucks!!! i was sooo gonna buy it - i remeber i thougth these fish were freshwater from the mangrove - and also pretty much peacefukl just an insect eater i coul prob keep in my tank - but then the lfs guy tol me it was a brackish fish - so that ended that :( is this true?
what are the requirements to keep this species???

I'm no expert but they are listed as a brackish water fish. Any tanks I've ever seen with them in them were half filled with a tight lid, heavily planted with live insects living in the plants above the water. I've always admired this fish, maybe someday I will win a lottery and open my own aquarium and get one :)

They are brackish and can get up to a foot long.
