hey guys just noticed both my angels in my q tank now have a very small white patch of whiteish eye slime or little cottony tuft on their eyes - not something that is big or prob even noticeable to passer by but i saw it - is it culumaris ne other fish in the tank currently has mouth fungus a little - i will begin treating for it once i finish ich meds- there is no bulging of the eye so i don't think it woul be pop eye - i;m going to try treating with AP anti fungus - if not i was thinking melafix
just another disease in the stupid 20g uggghhh it NEVER ends:shake:

Sounds like you've got cloudy eye but I could be wrong...has there been a fluctuation in your parameters? Reason being that this can be due to poisoning, bad water quality, or irritation...... I read in another thread of yours that you recently got rams, are they in this q-tank as well?
I once had this problem start in my tank (cloudy eye) and I'm still not sure what the cause was exactly as my water has always been good, but right before it came out I had added some new fish without quarantining them first......another thought I had was anaerobic poisoning that I caused by releasing bubbles from the gravel while doing regular maintenance on the tank. My tank never got the smell that's prominant with this type of poisoning so I can't be sure if it was that either. It was a hard lesson learned though, whatever caused it wiped out 95% of what fish I had.
Investigate if water quality is high first and continue with water changes. If your water quality is high, wait at least a week or two before trying any antibiotics......a side note, nothing that I tried worked and investigating further, I've read that there really isn't a medication for that out there.....but I tried.
Frequent water changes are a must to improve quality. Test for ammonia, nitrites, nitrates. Cloudy eye is a sign of a number of things, rather than a disease in its own right.
Good luck, HTH

last week i had the over medicating for ich catastrophe - where i didnt pay attnetion to how much i medicated and lost four fish when i came home the rest were gasping at the surface i did water changes and fixed that situation - maybe this stressed them and brought on eye cloud - they are ehalthy otherwise eating etc - the rams went to a different tank - they are in my 20g that has been a battleground against disease - i am treating for mouth fungus now hopefull the eyes will clear up - is it contagious or deadly?

I would try to feed them a good food with vitamins to keep their systems working with your continued maintenance schedule.
I don't mean to scare you but the disease itself was deadly for me, or at least I think it's what killed most of my guys. I believe I tried using Maracyn and a couple other things and nothing worked, it's a tough battle. I would assume it is contagious as it affected most of my fish except my plecos and some cories (though some were infected). I was losing fish left and right at a level of about 1 per day. After my frustrations of the med not working as well as the water change, I removed what fish I had left and placed them in another tank. The only survivors were the pleco, some cories, and a RTBS. When I did move them, the RTBS was in very sad shape and I assumed the worst for him, not expecting for him to make it to the morning. To my surprise, he began to recover immediately and after about a week he was doing great. Since I didn't know the true cause, I ran my main tank empty while adding food for the bacteria for about 4 or 5 weeks. I tried adding couple of fish before that time but they died as well. I was still pretty nervous to try any more after that time so added my pleco who never showed signs in the beginning. Then after a few more days, added some skunk loaches, and watched them for another week. I added my cories and was very reluctant on the RTBS because of what he had been through and was worried about losing my little "survivor". He did well after another few days then I purchased some new Angels. So far, everyones happy and I haven't seen hide nor hair of the cloudy eye again. I guess you could say it's my most "feared" disease so I'm not very optimistic personally when I know it's in the tank. However, if you do battle this successfully, I'd be interested in hearing how you did it. Sorry I couldn't come up with a good fix for ya.

it's not really cloudy eye as in the whole eye is clouded over with a white foggy look it was just a very small patch of white fuzzy stuff right in the middle of the eye - almost not even noticeable - i'll check today when i get home to see if it's any better i'm treating the tank for fungal problems - if it clears up i will then continue Q - ing them for another 4 weeks - is that long enough?

that's how mine looked in the beginning too....actually, it was white in the center and kinda faded....hard to explain. Nonetheless, I think 4 weeks is sufficient, you ight want to get a few danios (if you don't already have some) to test the waters prior to introducing the angels back....such as putting 1 or 2 in with the angels after 4 weeks and watching for signs for a couple days. Is there anything else in the main tank? I might sound like I may be being "too-cautious", but I guess this last thing really hit me hard with the devestation that took place with it.

the angels were new additions that are living in my 20g q tank - if i can clear up this problem then i will move them to my 55g - i just don't want them bringing what ever it is with them - so here's my plan assuming i defeat this - afte medicating with anti fungul meds i'm currently using i will then treat with one whole bottle of melafix over the course of the additional healthy 4 weeks of Q (the big bottle) before moving them
