Received a 20 H that was damaged by hamsters, reseal in progress. I want to set this up as an Endler tank, planted well. The stock 19w fixture has a 15w fluorescent bulb, age unknown. The date on the tank is 1999, so it's probably that old.
What filter would you suggest? I read that endlers don't like heavy current, but the depth of the tank is going to make good circulation a problem.

Marineland Bio-wheel 150 series would be a good fit, rated up to 30 gallon. should be jus enough flow for your tank, runs around $24 or so, JMO

Two AC30s
BTW, do yourself a major favor and throw filter ratings out the window. Learned that a long time ago when dealing with HOBs.

i was only using the filter rating as a reference to the correct filter

Endlers have babies, lots of babies. They will get sucked up in any kind of power filter. My suggestion is to use an ATI #3 sponge filter. It is rated for 40 gallons, is inexpensive, and easy to clean(squeeze 5 or 6 times in aquarium water once a month). You can use it with or without an airstone. Or you could use two ATI #2 sponge filters and alternate cleaning them every 2-3 weeks...
I run a Hydro-Sponge with a power head in my 20gL. Water is always crystal clear and it is stupid easy to maintain.

Easily fixed with a piece of foam over the intake. I've used that before.

AC 50 with a sponge over the intake if needed

For lower flow, go with the two AC 30's. My 50 pushes out a pretty good flow in my 20H.
