I was wondering if any of you all use this i was told its better than Activated carbon and can be used over and over again. Please give me some reviews
 
yup totally great stuff as well chemipure is great stuff too. The only problem is people are to short sited to see the benefits of products like this.

They look at the up front cost and go for what seems cheaper, but as they say you get what you pay for.

Take veggie oil for example most restaurants will choose the cheaper 11ltr bucket rather than the mid or high grade, and that is their error. Shorter life and shoddy quality makes for bad food, where as higher grade means better food and longer life of oil.
 
Both have their uses carbon will remove heavy metals where Purigen gets the organics.
 
One thing with Purigen is it is kind of messy to handle. You need very, very fine mesh bags for it (it's made of very, very tiny "grains"). I have it, but got frustrated w/ not being able to find the finer mess bags so just have it in with my fish supplies for now, vs. in use.

PS if anyone could tell me where to find fine enough mesh -- that would be great! :)
 
Purigen and activated carbon pull different things. I run purigen on my high bioload tanks to help control my nitrogenous wastes in addition to water changes. So instead of having to do 50% water changes twice a week to keep the nitrates below 10ppm I can do them once a week. It is easily rechargeable with bleach. I buy it in the packets so I don't have to mess around with the loose purigen which is a pita. I don't run it in my planted tanks as the plants use up a lot of the nitrogenous wastes.
