Hi, I have a 65 watt over 29 gallons and right now I think this would be considered low-medium lighting. I've heard, though, that low-light plants thrive under 2 WPG. I'm inclined to believe this as my anubias right now is suffering immensely from algae and losing leafs after getting rid of a lot of the duckweed which used to shade them from the surface.

Also I'm moving in 8 months and I want to convert my tank to a low light/tech tank for my parents to enjoy even when I'm not there. Would 36 watts allow me to still grow low light plants as well as a few medium plants? I'm thinking of ordering the fixture from ah supply. Will my current plants like giant hygro or anacharis survive?

I have a 55 watt AH Supply Kit over 29 gal, and never could grow Anubias. Java Fern, Wisteria, Parrot's Feather, and Dwarf Hairgrass all did fine, however.

I too have 36 over my 29 and have no trouble growing Java Moss, Sessiliflora, Sunset hygro, Java Fern, and amazon sword. My anubias have even less light (.8wpg) and still thrive (just slower).
