i have some RCS in my 10 gallon, and am looking to get another type of shrimp as well. I have pretty soft water, and pH is about 6.8. I also don't want to spend a ton of money. So, which species are you favorite, and why?

Based on the compatibility charts, looks like my options are tiger, bumblebee, green, or CRS. I'd love to do blue tiger someday, but I don't have the $$ of the confidence I'd keep them alive. I would consifer lower grade CRS. Just curious what others experiences are.

Considering your water parameters I would do tiger shrimp. They would be a nice contrast to the RCS you have now.

I would go bumblebee, partially because they are very pretty, and partially because MsJinkzd has some right now that look friggin awesome.

Just to mention- it's a black background, black substrate tank. I'm thinking the green and the bublebee would probably stand out really nicely.

The green would look nice. But I'll point this out, if you have plants then they don't show up as well as the cherries. I love my green shrimp and I think it's fun to try and search them out in my planted tank. Some may not feel the same.

i have a tank with cherries, crs, and malawa shrimp . they all coexist and wont interbreed. the low grade crs are definitely the nicest. the lower the grade the more hardy they are too. the malawa take on many different colors such as brown, blue, beige, and so on. msjinkzd sells them and thats about all who does.

green shrimptypically like harder water. What is the tank temperature? I would go with bumblebee or tiger or CRS over green with your parameters. Keep in mind these three prefer slightly cooler temperatures.

Yeah it's a cooler water tank, but briggs and shrimp for now. I might wait a little while and save up so I can get a decent number of CRS. :) Or the bumblebees, I think it's between those 2.

I found Tiger shrimp to be easy to care for when I first started raising shrimp. They where the second type of shrimp I raised after RSC.
