At work today a man paid with (2) $10 gold certificates from 1928, i've never seen a gold certificate before so i bought them out of my drawer.

Does anyone know anything about these, they've definitely been in circulation as they aren't perfect, but they are also not in horrible condition either.

I'm trying to figure out if they're worth hanging onto a while, or something that a collector would want, and pay a little money for.

I'm am in no way trying to get rich off of these, just kind of curious.

Thanks for reading.

they are worth alot more than face value, my co worked had a similar situation he made a large profit,.... take them to a bank and ask them with the value of the gold cerificate is currently. and then dont make a decison about them just yet, them take them to a coin shop that collectors use and she what they offer you

Hi Katelyn
I just goggled 1928 Gold Certificate and found this
Gold Certificates
1928 Gold Certificate $10, $20, $50, $100, $500, and $1,000 bills are all legal to own, and all are highly collectible. The $10 and $20 notes are typically worth from twice face value to $100 or more depending on condition, while the $50 and $100 notes are more valuable. $500 and $1,000 Gold Certificates are scarce and we recommend consultation with one of our currency experts if you possess one of these notes.

You should hang onto it to find out the value. Look in your area for a coin show as there is always paper money dealers there. The value can depend upon many things such as the origin stamp/signatures on the bill and bill condition. Manchester and Nashua both have coin shows coming up in February and Massachusetts always has coin shows going on. Thanks guys, i found some info online, just trying to see if anyone had personal experience with them.

I may check out a coin/money show of some sort to see what they say. Like i said, they're not in perfect condition, but they're definitely not as beat up as some bills i come across.
