I currently have 2 pieces of driftwood in my tank that are from Petco, now, there is nothing at all wrong with these pieces of wood. In fact, they are great for growing a ton of java ferns on!! haha.
But.... I want to switch things up a little. I want to take out the 2 pieces of wood, and replace them with some branch/root type pieces that I plan to kind of lean against the side of the tank in order to look like tree roots coming down into the water.
Now, I have a lot of trees on my property, but I have no idea what they are. I believe some are oak trees, but as for the rest, not a clue. Does anyone know what trees are typically going to be found in Northern VA? and if I gather some branches from these trees are they going to be suitable for my tank? Obviously after some cleaning / soaking.
Thanks.
