Here's the scoop, I've been thinking of upgrading my current flourescent strip light on my 75 planted tank, I bought an aquaglo t8 bulb from big als for it, its 40 w and I have another single strip light off a tank I'm not using, only 36" though and the bulb is 17 w, totaling 57 watts, I've been able to keep my plants fine, with slow growth...my ballast on the 40w has been giving me problems though so I thought to upgrade the strip in the future by installing 8 or 9 14w cfls in it, 2700 k each bulb, but of course I waited to long and the ballast crapped out, so now I have to do something soon, what should I do? Replace the ballast and continue with the 40w aquaglo bulb or modify for the cfls? And also if I do either it will have to be tomorrow night will a day without the 40w and only the 17 mess up my plants? Thanks,and sorry if the msg is all over the place!
