Hi,
I have a 4g finnex that I tore down before christmas (freshwater) and was thinking about turning it into a pico saltwater (reef)? if that is possible. I have read that with saltwater bigger is easier. I am pretty commited to my tanks and have the time to play around. I guess I was just looking for some input on what is possible and what I would need to start it. I really dont care if I have fish or not but like the look of a reef. I have seen pictures of beautiful 5 gallon reefs but not sure if these are doable long term and have no idea how to pick things that work together. Honestly I don't even know how to make saltwater for a fish tank. I would start researching alot though if I could get some opinions that are favorable. If not it will probably become a terrarium.
Thanks,
Jen

I've never done a pico tank, but I have made a few nano 10 galons and I think a 4g would work out fine, but alot of commitment to water changes and keeping your levels 100%... A days evaporation could kill off the tank.

Well bigger is better but that is a very small tank. You will need to do water changes every day and check your water temp, and perimeters. I would recommend getting a bigger tank or sticking with freshwater. IDK if there are any fish that go in a 4 gal tank. Or inverts. Corals can go in a tank that small though. You really should get a larger tank b4 trying saltwater.
