I recently got a licorice gourami. I'd love to have a picture for you, but he is terrified of the camera. He is very beatuiful, though, colored up nice from the fish store, nice deep colors.

I'd love to hear others' experience with this fish. I've heard they can be difficult, but I wanted to give it a try- they like soft acidic water, which is perfect for me! He lives in a heavily planted tank with some RCS and some norman's lampeyes.

He hides alot. He comes out once in a while and "patrols" around the tank, kind of like I've seen my bettas do. He's a little jumpy and if I make a sudden move he'll go and hide. Not sure if that's just how he is, or he's still settling in.

I've been feeding him frozen brine shrimp and bloodworms. I try to spot-feed with a baster, because he won't come up to the top with the lampeyes.

Any suggestions are welcome. Will he always hide? Am I not providing him enough hiding spots, I hear they're cave breeders, so maybe he needs a cave?

Anybody anybody? It's such a cool fish, *someone* must've had one!

Ask Lupin, I believe he has...

Found his article. :)

This guy has gotten WAY more social. Out and visible pretty much all the time now. I think it might be a female, but then there are apparently species where the males don't have as extravagent fins, either.
