During a visit to the mental asylum, I asked the director how do
You determine whether or not a patient should be institutionalized.

"Well," said the director, "we fill up a bathtub, then we offer a
teaspoon, a teacup and a bucket to the patient and ask him or her to empty
the bathtub."

"Oh, I understand," I said. "A normal person would use the bucket because
it's bigger than the spoon or the teacup."

"No." said the director, "A normal person would pull the plug. Do you want
a bed near the window?"

How could I think of drain right off the bat before I finished reading it, if you refer to the Buddy Boy poll it looks as if I have no mind :)

They don't use straight jackets or have padded walls in asylums anymore...
Also, this could be a sensitive subject for some people so watch your jokes please?

I would have used the teaspoon to fill the teacup to fill the bucket until the tub was empty. Finding out where to dump the buckets of water would be the hard part. So I would just crack the bathroom window and use the teaspoon to empty the water from the bucket out the window through the crack.

Lol. I immediately went for the bucket too.

As far as the possibility of this thread offending someone goes, there's not much that can be said that's not gonna offend someone's sensibilities somewhere.

I agree. Living with mental illness myself and knowing several others, this bothers me.

I'm sorry that both of you were offended. However, I did not find this to be in bad taste or I would not have posted this. Clearly this joke did not single out individuals with mental illness, it more makes fun of most of us for not thinking logically.

I also know many people with mental health issues, and even I have to see a mental health worker weekly. I suffer from PTSD, and that's as far as I will go on this point in a public forum........

Personally, if I were you I would have reported this thread to a moderator and explained why, or you could have sent me a pm and I could have asked the thread to be deleted if I agreed with your point.
