The ph in my new tank (one week old 20 gal. tank started w/bispira and contains 5 glolites and a cory) has dropped over the last few days from approx. 7.2 to 6.2. The fish seem fine, but what could be causing it. I have added a fair amount of Amquel to reduce trace amonia (amonia was around 1.0 and is now between .5 and .25 -- my tap water also has .25 amonia). The Amquel bottle says it won't change the ph but I'm wondering if it could be. The ph in my tap water is around 7.6, so 6.2 is a far cry from 7.6.
Does anyone know whati is happening? Is all of this a problem for the fish and if so, what should I do.
