I got a few plants at an auction for a newly set up 20long. Mixed in with my Marsilea Minuta was a couple small lace plants. I think Aponogeton madagascariensis is the scientific name. I've heard this is not an easy plant to keep but since it was free I figured why not?
The tank is a 20L with fluorite and black sand. 3 watts per gallon, either with flourish and flourish excel, or DIY C02.
Is there a good chance it won't survive? Where should it go in the tank? Background, middle, on the ends?

I think that's the same plant I just got from customdrum. They melted a little when they got in my tank, but they're already putting out new leaves. They're in my 10 gallon, so about 2.7ish WPG, root tabs, Flourish+Flourish Iron and Excel.

I bought two of these and I was afraid that they would be really difficult. Plunked them in the tank at 2 wpg and they are taking off. I may be lucky, but they seem pretty easy to me. Good luck with them. They are really beautiful plants!

Good to hear! They are very pretty. For some reason my husband finds them creepy lol.

Yeah i don't think I would have bought one myself. But it was free, so why not. :)

I couldn't resist customdrum's price. :D I have a LFS that has them and I'd been admiring them, but they were like $15-20. Everything I put in my tanks melts at first, probably cause of the soft water, but there was new growth in 2 weeks or so.

This is a little OT, but does anyone know the difference between the standard and "West Coast Variant" of this plant? I think there might be a slight color difference, with the variant not getting the reddish tinge that the other gets.
