Well all the central air is running, valves installed and new sponges placed in teh tanks that were not using them before. In about 2 weeks I will take off ALL HOB filters. I already have a pile of now unused air pumps and hob's that is about up to my knees. Next up is to breakdown the discus tank (anyone want to buy 3 mature discus and come pick them upu in the next week? LOL). We will then start the rack build in 3 4' sections. They will be 3-tiered racks. Once the first section is done, we willl set the discus tank back up, move the oscar into his 75. Then I will have to shuffle the other small tanks to make room to build the next step, and so forth and so on. I am very excited to get this part going! Here is how it looks now, don't mind the mess, its in transition ;) Soon I will have an nice organized fish room! I cannot wait!

Really great Rachel. I am envious. I always wanted a basement where I could put my litterbox. :)

Wow, beautiful. Everything looks superb! :) Looks pretty organized to me. I think you could set shop or even start classes on Aquaculture in your basement. I cannot wait to see it in completion. :) Looks perfecto to moi. ;)

P.S. Do you fertilize or use Co2 in your planted tanks? They look wonderfully green.

no, no fertilizers or co2 just fish poo and mid-range lighting, lol

I had a feeling your planted tanks were au naturale. :) I don't use fertilizer or co2 either but my planted tanks don't look as lush and green as your jungles and mountains. The poo-poo in PA must be where it's at. ;)

Looks awesome! I can't wait until my fish room looks even close to what yours looks like now! If I were closer, I would get your discus. I did manage to get 3 Fire Reds though, from a member of Simply.

You like living on the edge with some of your stands. The way those tanks are on the racks just sitting on the boards is scary. Unless of course, I'm missing the welded bars across or something. The folding table is really scary.

I figured you had taken the Bohemian Planted Course. LOL

there are 2x4 cross bracing underneath all that wood, lol. The folding table is a bit scary, no doubt about it! Any of the metal stands have at least 2 cross braces as well. The only thing really shady is the folding table.

I wish I had that mess of a fish room! Very nice, I can't imagine how awesome this is going to look with all those racks!!

Yeah that folding table scares me. Yikes! I didn't even notice it at first honestly because I was looking at the tank on it, I love that foot print, is it a 50g?

40 breeder. That table is a LOT sturdier than it looks, lol.

Keep in mind, this is BEFORE the redo of racks and adding tanks, lol

How many amps in your electrical panel have you dedicated to all that? Looks like there is a subpanel pulled off the main. Does the dehumidifier run constantly?
Looks great. Keep posting the progress, nice to see what can be done.

About $200 a month, keep in mind I have 3 kids as well.

The dehumidifier is plumbed to the sewer drain and yes, its always on. The subpanel you noticed powers the fishroom. I think its 3 breakers (20 amps each I believe) maybe 4.

Looks great!

Just for my own sick amusement, I showed the pics to my husband and told him that's how many tanks I wanted by the end of the year. LOL! The look on his face.....

Seriously, though- very cool fishroom. We don't have a basement ( unusual for this part of the country), so I'm confined to the office for tanks and wherever else in the house I can squeeze one. =)

Love love love your setup as is, but I know it'll only get better! Will you be throwing that fish geek party after your basement is complete? lol

What size tanks are on the shelving unit to the left of your 210? They look like cube tanks...
Also, are you using any of those air-driven mat filter thingamajigs, or all sponges?

Yes I will! Looks like we are going to coordinate it with the ThatFishPlace meet which will be April 17th! Come one, come all :D

That is one impressive fishroom for sure. I am glad to see a nice comfy easy chair. I hope you find ample time each day to kick back and enjoy it all.

msjinkzd
01-31-2010, 8:34 AM
I sure do. I take my laptop down and swivel myself around on my chair to watch the fish while I am doing my emails, pm's, etc. I don't get nearly as much time as I would like but being a mom of 3 is more at fault than all the tanks, lol
