Would it be ok to use great stuff instead of handi foam for my Gecko set up?

i bought great stuff but its white and what was recommended was handi foam basically the black version of great stuff, but they are two different brand names, so im stuck on this if the great stuff would harm my geckos when i move them into there but after i apply the foam i was planning on siliconing coco fiber on.

which version? gaps and cracks should be fine... even submersed. big gap filler will expand quite a bit. pond and stone should be completely inert once cured... it's also black though.

do a practice run on some cardboard to get a hang of things. don't apply too much at a time (thin layers) since it can and will shatter tanks... especially in corners.

It's fine to use if you are planning on covering it with tile grout or coco fiber.

You can check out this thread if you're interested to see how I made a fake background out of Great Stuff foam.

yeah im goign with coco fiber, which im dying right now in my oven at 300, but that gave me some great ideas! thanks for your link, i think im going to do some creative carving as well :) hopefully poics will be up as soon as i get everything planned out alright.

Great stuff it, let it dry, and then black silicone and add the coco fiber. If done right, it should cover the entire background and wont be able to tell that it was white. If you also want it so no one can see it from the outside of the tank, put down a layer of black silicone first and smooth it out. Let that dry, then do the greatstuff, etc...

Coco fiber for a leopard gecko background? Well just keep in mind that it will retain moisture which isn't always healthy for leopard geckos. They're arid animals that shouldn't have a humidity level over 40% for the most part.
